The Park
With your support and donation (DONATE HERE), the Mark West Area Community Park, located at 4614 Old Redwood Highway, will provide a space for children to play, families to gather and community to flourish. All donations going directly to supporting park operations, safety and recreational amenities.
Open to the public!
On October 10, the park officially opened to the public from dawn to dusk seven days a week!

Park Construction Update – October 2026
Below are the next steps in the process to open the Mark West Area Community Park to the public:
1) Grand opening on October 10, 2026! Thank you for supporting the park!
2) Other park amenities that are coming soon include a gazebo and drinking fountain.

As a community owned park, we rely on donations to pay for operations and maintenance costs of the park – such as insurance, water, electrical and landscaping.

Our tax identification number is 92-2669449. We operate on a fiscal year from January 1 to December 31. Monetary and in-kind donations to the Mark West Area Community Fund are considered to be tax deductible, unless limited by law.

Green Spaces
Read about the importance of green spaces by the We are a group of students part of the Sonoma County Youth Commission on Human Rights, a program where high schoolers team up to create ad hoc projects relating to human rights and community issues.
Our group, the Environmental ad hoc, is focused on advocating for equal access to parks and green spaces across Sonoma County, because we have seen, in our own lives, how having these kinds of spaces can improve both personal well-being and community health.

When will the park open? October 10, 2026
Will the County be the owners of the park and maintain it? No, this park is not part of Sonoma County Regional Parks. This park is owned by the community, our non-profit!
Who will be the owner of the park and who will pay to maintain it? The Mark West Area Community Fund (a nonprofit) will own and maintain the park. It will be a “private” park for the use of the Mark West Area community.
Will there be bathrooms? There will be no bathrooms.
How do we get ongoing information about the park? There is a way to sign up (subscribe) to a newsletter on the website. See bottom of this page.
What will be the park hours? Sunrise to sunset.
How can I help and is there a place to sign up? Please go to the website and let us know how you would like to help.
Will there be access to the park from the back (MW Estates)? No. Unfortunately, the property on the opposite side of the fence is all private property with no apparent easements.
